Jack Herer (/ ˈhɛrər /; – ), sometimes called the "Emperor of Hemp", was an American cannabis rights activist and the author of the 1985 book The Emperor Wears No Clothes. Herer founded and served as the director of the organization Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP). [1]

Herer’s story might have ended there, but after the 1985 publication of The Emperor Wears No Clothes, his trajectory arced upwards once again. Hailed by cannabis enthusiasts as a classic, the book launched Jack Herer as an activist and lecturer.
